In
Oct 1944, Liu Lianren, born in Gaomi, Shandong, was impressed as a
labor to 明治mine
corporation昭和mine
in Hokkaido, Japan. After 8-month’s heavy work and inhuman life,
Liu and other 4 labors escaped from the work site on July 30th,
1945. Being scattered with other fellow sufferers, Liu hided in a
cave in石狩郡当别町of
Hokkaido, and was not found until a local hunter found him
occasionally and saved him in Feb 1958. But the Japanese
government refused to admit the crime of capturing Chinese labors.
This aroused a great disturbance in Japan. With the help of the
friendly people and the overseas Chinese in Japan, Liu returned to
China in April 1958. Before returning to homeland, Liu released an
announcement that he would hold all the rights to claim for
compensation from Japanese government. |
