The Japanese government did not accept the sentence and
lodged the appeal on the case of Chinese labor Liu Lianren

Via Xinhua net, July 23rd, Tokyo: The Japanese government did not accept the previous sentence on the case of Liu Lianren by the Tokyo Local Court and appealed to the Tokyo Superior Court on 23rd.
  Liu Lianren, born in Shandong, China, was captured as a labor by the Japanese army and was sent to a colliery in Hokkaido, Japan in 1944. Seeing the tragedy death of other labors under the inhuman abuse of the Japanese militarists, Liu escaped from the colliery and had a 13-year escaping life in local forest. In 1958, Liu was found by a Japanese and was sent back to his homeland finally. On July 12th this year, under the reason of “the Japanese government neglecting the protect obligation”, the Tokyo Local Court made the sentence that the Japanese government pay 20 million yen to Liu Lianren. On 23rd, the Japanese government stated that “Japan do not have the obligation to protect Liu and can not foresee the threat of his life”. Based on this reason, the government decided to lodge the appeal.
  Liu Huanxin, the eldest son of Liu Lianren, staying in Japan at the same day, stated to the reporters his great soreness and intolerance toward such an attitude of the Japanese government in the justice club in 此间霞关. The defending lawyers group helping him and the civilian friendly people also stated that they planed to company with the Japanese government up to the end.  
    For over half century after the War, the Japanese government has denied the historical truth of capture Chinese labors and refuse to compensate and apologize. Liu Lianren accused the Japanese government to the Tokyo Local Court to ask for the apology and the compensation from the Japanese government for the sake of fair.

Liu Lianren passed away in his 87 in Sep 2000.  (Finished)
